Wanda Rosemary McLean

The passing of Wanda Rosemary McLean (née Richard), beloved wife of Dougall Warren McLean of Pennfield NB, occurred peacefully at home on May 29, 2026, under the care of the Palliative care doctor and the Extra-Mural staff, with her husband by her side. Born in Newcastle NB (now part of Miramichi) on January 28, 1956, she was a daughter of the late Lionel Richard and Ann Richard (née DeWolfe).

A beloved wife, mother, grandmother and sister, she is survived by her loving husband, Dougall of Pennfield NB; her daughter, Barbara Ann May McLean (Jeremy Filip) of Caribou, Maine; her grandchildren: Lulu Belle Filip, Ruby Bowen Filip, Jesse McLean Filip and Leonidas Dougall Filip; her siblings: Brian Richard (Vicky), Linda Richard-Beal (Reginald), Larry Richard (Ruth), Judy Russell (Brian), Diane Stacey (Kevin), Paula Richard (Ted), Ralph Richard (Debbie) and Joan Poitras (Marcel); her sister-in-law, Margaret Attis; her godchildren: Jordan Thompson and Jordan Poitras; as well as many wonderful and loved nieces, nephews and cousins.

Wanda grew up first in Newcastle then Moncton NB, attending school in the area before going on to earn a certificate in Marketing from NBCC Moncton. She built a long and distinguished career in banking and the credit union sector, retiring as Manager of Bayview Credit Union — a role that reflected both her dedication and the trust she earned from her community over many years.

Wanda was a prolific knitter, a gift she inherited from her mother, and later took up weaving with the same passion and devotion she brought to everything she loved. For years she fundraised tirelessly for the Children’s Wish Foundation, and in retirement found great joy working at Cricket’s Cove, a local knitting shop that felt like a natural home for her talents and her warm spirit. In the summer, she and Doug spend many wonderful days in Shediac, riding their electric bikes and enjoying the beach.   Above all, Wanda treasured time spent with her husband, her many dear friends, her sisters and brothers, her adoring daughter and her beloved grandchildren, who brought her immeasurable joy. She will be remembered for her strength, her creativity and generosity, and the warmth she gave so freely to all who knew her.

The family would like to express their heartfelt gratitude to the Extra-Mural staff and the Stan Cassidy Center for the kind and tender care shown to Wanda and her family throughout her illness. It was deeply appreciated.
