A former Saint John Sea Dog is the new captain of the Ottawa Senators.
Thomas Chabot was handed the reins Tuesday, just a few days before the Sens open the regular season.
He replaces Brady Tkachuk, who was traded to Florida in the offseason.
Chabot will be joined by alternates Claude Giroux, Tim Stützle and Jake Sanderson.

The 29-year-old defenceman is the longest-tenured Senator, having spent his entire NHL career in the capital.
Chabot was drafted by Ottawa 18th overall in the 2015 NHL draft.
He spent four seasons with the Sea Dogs from 2013 to 2017, putting up 34 goals and 119 assists in 202 regular-season games.
He added eight goals and 37 assists in 40 playoff games.
His best season in Saint John might have been his last, as he helped lead the Sea Dogs to the 2017 President Cup title.
He was named playoff MVP that year and received the Emile Bouchard Trophy as the QMJHL’s top defenceman.
