Do something: National Day for Truth and Reconciliation

September 30 is the National Day for Truth and Reconciliation.

It is A Day to Listen.

Special programming honouring this special day can be heard on Acadia Broadcasting Corporation radio stations in Ontario, New Brunswick and Nova Scotia, and on hundreds of others across the country.

The Gord Downie & Chanie Wenjack Fund (DWF) has partnered with radio stations for this impactful presentation.

The first took place on June 30, 2021, following the announcement of 215 potential unmarked graves at the site of the former Kamloops Indian Residential School.

A Day to Listen leverages the power of the airwaves to inspire everyone to move reconciliation forward in meaningful ways.

This year’s theme is Honouring Truth with Action.

It’s the 10th anniversary of Secret Path, Downie’s documentary based on Chanie Wenjack’s story. A Day to Listen explores how truth can inspire meaningful action throughout Canada in conversations with Indigenous leaders, Knowledge Keepers, educators, artists, and changemakers.

A Day to Listen will present the lived experiences of First Nations, Inuit, and Métis Peoples, acknowledge the ongoing impacts of colonialism and the residential school system, and take meaningful steps toward reconciliation.

Tune in to this radio station from 6 am to 6 pm on September 30 to hear A Day to Listen.
