St. Stephen Ferry Point border crossing to close for 6 weeks

Travellers crossing the border in St. Stephen will soon need to use alternate routes into Canada.

The Canada Border Services Agency (CBSA) says the Ferry Point Bridge port of entry will close for six weeks beginning Oct. 13.

The agency explained that the temporary closure is needed while the Maine Department of Transportation completes repairs to the bridge.

During the closure, travellers will be directed to either the Milltown port of entry or the St. Stephen Third Bridge port of entry.

The Milltown crossing is open daily from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. ADT, while the Third Bridge crossing operates 24 hours a day, according to the CBSA.

The agency says all commercial traffic must use the St. Stephen Third Bridge port of entry while the work is underway.
