The Saint John Sea Dogs have named a new head equipment manager.
Mike Fines will join the team after 13 seasons as equipment manager for the men’s and women’s programs at Saint Mary’s University.
Fines said he’s excited to join the Sea Dogs and work with a dedicated group of professionals.
“I’m really looking forward to supporting the team on and off the ice,” he said in a statement.
Sea Dogs president and general manager Trevor Georgie said the team is pleased to welcome Fines to the organization.
“He is very passionate about his craft,” Georgie said. “His attention to detail and commitment to supporting athletes made him a great fit for our organization.”
Fines is a 28-year military veteran and has 15 years of hockey equipment management experience.
Prior to his stint at Saint Mary’s, Fines began his career in 2009 with a Halifax-area Junior A team while still serving in the Canadian Armed Forces.
During his time with the Huskies, Fines worked with several players who went on to professional careers.
In recent years, Fines has also been involved with the Canadian Blind Hockey program, serving as equipment manager at the national and international levels.
