Safe Kids Week / Brain Injury Awareness Month

June 1 to 7 is Safe Kids Week – a time to highlight predictable and preventable injuries in children. June is also Brain Injury Awareness Month, so we’re taking the opportunity to remind everyone about a very important topic that touches on both topics: helmet safety!

Wearing a properly fitted helmet designed for the sport or activity a child is playing can help protect their brain by absorbing the force from a crash or a fall, dramatically decreasing the risk of serious injury. While you may be tempted to buy a slightly bigger helmet your child can grow into over the next few years, don’t take the risk. Get one that fits properly so they’re protected.

For more information on buying the right type of helmet your child needs for their sports and activities, and how to ensure it fits properly, visit Parachute Canada’s website: https://parachute.ca/en/injury-topic/helmets/
