June 1 to 7 is Safe Kids Week – a time to highlight predictable and preventable injuries in children. June is also Brain Injury Awareness Month, so we’re taking the opportunity to remind everyone about a very important topic that touches on both topics: helmet safety!
Wearing a properly fitted helmet designed for the sport or activity a child is playing can help protect their brain by absorbing the force from a crash or a fall, dramatically decreasing the risk of serious injury. While you may be tempted to buy a slightly bigger helmet your child can grow into over the next few years, don’t take the risk. Get one that fits properly so they’re protected.
