Sackville man sentenced for wife’s horrific death

A Sackville man has been sentenced to life in prison for the death of his wife in 2023.

Roger Hilyard Crossman was sentenced in the Court of King’s Bench in Moncton on Monday.

He will also not be eligible for parole for 24 years, and he will also serve an additional five years in prison concurrently for a charge of indignity to human remains.

Multiple media reports stated the judge called Crossman’s actions degrading, horrific, egregious, sadistic and grotesque.

Crossman pleaded guilty in September to the second-degree murder of his wife, Marlene Cheryl Crossman.

RCMP responded to the home of the 62-year-old man in October 2023, and that’s when the woman’s body was discovered.

Crossman turned himself in to police in Antigonish later the same day.

He was initially charged with first-degree murder, but that charge was reduced to second-degree murder.

Crossman is now reportedly in hospital suffering from stage four lymphoma.
