Police Arrest Suspect In Abandoned Quarry

Saint John police say a man is facing charges after a traffic stop in the north end Thursday morning.

Police said officers stopped a vehicle on Adelaide Street after realizing the driver was wanted on several charges.

They said the vehicle took off and was found near Spar Cove Road, but the driver fled into the woods.

“Police Service Dog Diesel was brought in and an hour later, the man driving the vehicle was found hiding in an abandoned quarry,” said police in a news release.

Police said a 20-year-old man is facing several charges, including attempted robbery, flight from police and a probation violation.

No one was hurt during the incident.
