1979-2026
The passing of William “Billy” James Savoy, beloved partner of M. Kathleen “Cathy” Dugas occurred at their residence in Blacks Harbour NB on May 3, 2026. Born at Blacks Harbour NB on January 26, 1979, he was a son of Dianne (Melonson) Savoy and the late W. Alexander “Alex” Savoy.
A loving partner, son step-grandfather and brother, he is survived by his loving partner, Cathy; step-children: Mandy Hatt of Utopia NB and Trent Dugas of Fredericton NB; step-grandchildren: Kennedy Hatt and Cloe Quinlin; his siblings: Shelly Melanson (Jimmy Parker), Julie Savoy and Raymond Savoy (Tara) all of Blacks Harbour NB; several nieces, nephews and cousins.
In addition to his father, Billy was predeceased by several aunts and uncles.
Prior to illness, Billy worked for a number of years at the fish meal plant at Connors Brothers before going to work at Mowi where he became a sanitation supervisor. He was an avid outdoorsman who enjoyed both hunting and fishing, he was a true Savoy. A great neighbor and friend, Billy would drop everything to be there for anyone in need. He faced his illness head on and with great humor. He adored the staff at the Charlotte County Hospital in the Dialysis Unit where he found great comfort and support. Billy was known as the class clown of the Dialysis Unit. Billy truly loved his family and cherished every moment with them, especially Kennedy. He will be forever missed by all who knew him.
The family would like to thank Billy’s friend, Timmy Leavitt, for his support during his many dialysis sessions and the staff at the Charlotte County Hospital Dialysis Unit for their care and support.
In keeping with Billy’s wishes, there will be no visiting. A graveside service will be held on Friday at 11:00 am at the Stella Maris Catholic Cemetery, Blacks Harbour NB with Rev. Gordon Cooke officiating. In his memory, donations to the Charlotte County Hospital Dialysis Unit or to a charity of the donor’s choice would be greatly appreciated by the family.
