Ruth “Charlene” Daigle

1936-2026

Peacefully, with the love of her family by her side, the passing of Ruth “Charlene” (Foster) Daigle, wife of the late Gerald James Daigle, occurred at the Fundy Nursing Home, Blacks Harbour NB on January 14, 2026. Born on Grand Manan NB on May 16, 1936, she was a daughter of the late Merton and Ruth (Tait) Foster.

A loving and devoted mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, great-great-grandmother and sister; Charlene will be lovingly remembered by her children: Susan (Glen) Steinbach, David (Dawn) Daigle, Bobby (Sharon) Daigle, Joan (John) Pellerin and Terry (Valerie) Daigle; grandsons: Jamie, Joey, Thomas, Aaron, Brandon, Cameron and Nicholas; one granddaughter: Tara Lynn; 14 great-grandchildren; three great-great-grandchildren; sisters: Esther (Bruce) Smythe and Joan (Earl) Shaw; and by many nieces, nephews and cousins.

In addition to her parents and husband, Charlene was predeceased by her brothers: Lowell Foster and Phillip Foster; and by sisters: Dorothy Spear, Eleanor Nelson, Elaine Cantley and Joyce Baldwin.

Prior to retirement, Charlene worked for Connor Brothers in Blacks Harbour. Charlene truly loved being a housewife and mother and enjoyed taking care of the whole neighbourhood. Charlene was known to always have a smile on her face and reflected her happiness on to those she met. She had a love for animals, especially her dogs, and in her free time enjoyed gardening, reading, doing puzzles and going for walks. She was a member of the Calvary Baptist Church in Blacks Harbour and she will be greatly missed by all who knew her.

Arrangements in the care of the St. George Funeral Home (755-3533) 26 Portage Street, St. George NB. In keeping with her wishes, there will be no visiting. A service will be held in the funeral home chapel on Monday at 2:00 pm with Rev. Bill Lea officiating. Interment will be held in the Stella Maris Catholic Cemetery in the spring. In Charlene’s memory, donations to a charity of the donor’s choice would be greatly appreciated by the family.
