1933-2025
Norman (Norm, Normie) Preston Wentworth, 92, of St. George, NB, passed away peacefully at his home on December 9th, 2025. Born on January 23rd, 1933 , in L’Etete NB, to the late Estelle Naomi and Preston Walter Wentworth. Now joined in Heaven with his loving wife of 70 years, Marguarite (Norman) Wentworth.
Norman was a devoted member of the St. George Baptist Church where he served as a deacon for many years. He and Marguarite helped to start the first food bank in the area which was run out of the church basement. In their younger years, Norman and Marguarite loved to cross country ski, square dance together and curl. An avid reader, Norman took time for devotions each day and loved books of history.
Never one to slow down, Norman had many jobs to keep him busy over the years. He worked as a carpenter for Roy Spinney, a butcher for Mervin Hanselpacker, drove bus for his father (Pa), worked for Irving oil and Connors Brothers Store. Norman owned his own grocery store in St. George, Wentworth’s Grocery, which he and his wife ran together for 21 years. After which he ‘retired’ to work another 18 years for the Granite Court retirement complex where he was a jack of all trades.
Norman loved the outdoors, fishing and hunting, and enjoyed many summers at his camp on Birneys Lake. Most of all Norman loved spending time with his family, sharing a meal and laughs, playing cards and taking in a Blue Jays ball game or watching the Maple Leafs. He brought a smile to everyone who knew his kindness and love, and he will be greatly missed by all who knew him.
Norman is survived by his loving brothers Ken Wentworth (Gwen), Doug Wentworth (Dorthy) and Raleigh Wentworth (Susan). Adored children Nancy (Wentworth) Cushing (Brad), William Wentworth (Susan), and Tammy (Green; Wentworth) Cook. Loved son-in-law Robert Nodding. Cherished grandchildren Vicky (Nodding) Wilcox (Tommy), Katherine (Nodding) Grant (Matthew), Jennifer Wentworth (Chris), Ryan Wentworth (Eric), Larissa Wilson, and Jaden Wilson. His precious great-grandchildren Izabella, Ian, William, James, John, Lily, Jersey, Tanner and Kalli.
Norman is pre-deceased by his mother and father, sisters-in-law Leona Seamans (Norman) and Gwen Wentworth (Ken), brother-in-law Vance (Sonny) Norman (Sylvia), his grandson Kristopher Wentworth and his (foster) son Tracey Green (Virginia).
The family would like to thank extra-mural home care.
Funeral service will be conducted at 2:00 p.m., Friday, December 12th, 2025, at St. George Baptist Church. In lieu of flowers a donation to the St. George food bank this holiday season would be appreciated by the family.
