1951-2026
The passing of Josephine Marie (Hanley) Patterson, wife of the late Wesley H. Patterson, occurred unexpectedly at her residence on September 17, 2026. Born in Blacks Harbour NB on January 14, 1951, she was a daughter to the late Frederick and Bessie (Leavitt) Hanley.
A loving mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister and aunt, Josephine will be sadly missed by her sons: Thomas (Laurie) Patterson and Scott (Daisy) Patterson both of Back Bay NB; daughter-in-law: Ava Mullins of Blacks Harbour NB; grandchildren: Cassidy Patterson, Cailey (Patrick) Fernie, Keaton Patterson, Jaxen Patterson and Renee Patterson; great-granddaughter, Fallon Fernie; bothers: Frederick Hanley, Ernest Hanley and Larry (Carole) Hanley all of Back Bay NB and Rev. Vincent (Mary) Hanley of Pictou NS; sisters: Linda Barwell, Dora McCurdy and Iona Thompson all of Back Bay NB and Leona (Burton) MacDonald of Kouchibouguac NB; and many nieces, nephews and cousins.
In addition to her parents and husband, Josephine was predeceased by one son: Steven Patterson; her brother: Donald Hanley; and sisters: Judith Hanley, Melva Parker and Geraldine Patterson.
Prior to retirement Josephine worked in and around the aquaculture industry, having wrinkled with Wesley and also worked for a time with True North Salmon. In her free time, she enjoyed both knitting and crocheting and running errands with her family. A woman of faith, Josephine truly loved the Lord and was a long-time member of the Sea View Full Gospel Church in Back Bay where she was active as President of the Ladies Missionary. Above all, her grandbabies were her world, and she loved them beyond measure. While we will miss Jospehine, we take comfort in knowing she has been reunited with Wesley and Steven and all those who have gone before her.
