Edna Charlotte Koteff

1928-2025

Edna Charlotte (Stewart) Koteff, lovingly known to many as “Toots,” passed away peacefully in her home on December 18, 2025, after living 97 long and remarkable years, surrounded by love. Toots spent her lifetime giving to others and endless devotion to her family, leaving behind a legacy of unforgettable memories.
Edna was predeceased by her parents, David and Elsie (Baxter) Stewart; her beloved husband Chris Koteff Sr; her sons Chris Jr. and Philip; her grandson Stephen; her sisters Laura and Dorothy; brothers Norman, David, and Glen; her brothers-in-law Jack, Bill, and Alec; and her sisters-in-law Naida, Stella, Mary, Janice, and June.
She is lovingly remembered by her children Lorraine (Tom), daughter-in-law, Kathy; Sharon, Larry (Donna), Naida (Nick), and Eric (Tammy); and grandson Jaret, who was more like a son than grandchild., whom we will never know who was the favorite, Jaret or Curly.
Edna greatest joy came in the form of grandchildren: Melissa, Michael, Melanie, Alec, Naida, Torrie, Elena, Tanya, Katie, Adam, Christina, Sarah, Nicholas, Alesha, Jaret, Krista, Nicole, Devin, and Miranda, as well as her many great-grandchildren, her sister Joanne (John); her brother Bill (Marg); her sister, Ethel;  as well as several nieces and nephews.
In her younger years she moved to Toronto, where she worked as a hairdresser. During her time there she met the love of her life, Chris and together they built a beautiful life together. When they moved back to NB they became avid and devoted members of the Legion. They also owned and operated Pennfield Take-Out, along with many fond memories working at   McKay’s Restaurant.

Edna had a love for all things nature and would often find her in her flower gardens or feeding the birds. Her love for animals was like no other. She had many pets over the years including monkeys, dogs and cats, Simon being her last by her side for the last 20 years. Toots was truly one of a kind.
The family would like to extend heartfelt thanks to her son-in-law Tom Case, for always looking out for Edna over the years and helping her run errands. She held you close to her heart. Another special thank you to her son-in-law Nick Constantineau for his unwavering love and devotion to Edna. He went above and beyond to keep her comfortable, meet her every need, and ensure she could remain in her home, where she wanted to be. Edna truly loved him with her whole heart.
Special thanks to Extra-Muriel, their care and compassion meant so much as well as the many homecare ladies over the last few years that held a special place in her heart- Dawn, Joan, Sabrina, Pam, Sarah, Kim, and Simone, who went above and beyond to make Edna feel loved and comfortable.
After 97 years well lived, Mom leaves behind a family forever shaped by her strength, kindness, confidence, and enduring spirit. Though she will be deeply missed, her love, stories, and legacy will continue to live on through the generations she touched. In keeping with her wishes there will be no public service. Private family visiting will be held on Sunday from 2-4 pm.
If anyone is looking to make a donation, the family asks that it be sent to the St. George Animal Shelter, in honor of Edna’s lifelong love for animals.>Click here to View Condolences
