1940-2026

The passing of Dorothy May Westecott, formally of Utopia NB occurred at the Fundy Nursing Home at Blacks Harbour NB on April 25, 2026. Born at Saint John NB on February 21, 1940, she was a daughter of the late Pearly and Annie (Campbell) Hardy.

  A loving mother and grandmother, she is survived by her children: Janice Smith (Brad McLeod) of Utopia NB, Gerald Smith and Austin Smith, both of Pennfield NB, Arnold Smith of St. Stephen NB and Rosie Smith of St. George NB, her grandchildren: Beverly Smith, Jennifer Smith and Sheldon Smith, many great grandchildren as well as several nieces, nephews and cousins. She was the last of her immediate family.

  Dorothy spent much of her life as a fulltime mom and homemaker for her family. Always  known to be a kind and caring person, Dorothy enjoyed the simple pleasures that brought joy to her such as family, knitting and her puzzle books. She will be also remembered as an avid animal lover. When she was younger and able, Dorothy also enjoyed taking walks and enjoying nature. She will be sadly missed by her family and all who knew her.

  In keeping with her wishes there will be no visitation or service. A private interment will be held at the Pennfield Rural Cemetery at a later date. In Dorothy’s memory, donations to the Heart and Stroke Foundation of New Brunswick or a charity of the donors choice.
