Frost-Porter, Brenda (Knowles)
Passed unexpectedly in the comfort of her home on Wednesday, July 29, 2026, at the age of 79. Born in St. Stephen, New Brunswick, she was the daughter of the late James and Martha (Greenier) Knowles. She was predeceased by her husband, Gary Frost, in 1991.
She is survived by her son, Mark Frost (Rachelle); her sister, Bonnie Ross; nieces Sherri Robar (Darren), Ashley Ross (Michael), and Lisa Murray; nephew Christopher Clinch; and her great-nieces and nephew, Kaelyn, Makayla, and Brandon.
In addition to her parents and husband Gary, she was predeceased by her brothers, Allen Knowles and Gary Knowles; her sisters-in-law Sharon Frost and Deborah Frost Joyce; and her brother-in-law Douglas Frost.
Brenda loved her family deeply. She was a wonderful cook—anything she made was always amazing. Even a simple sandwich was elevated by her touch; she had a special way of making everything better. Her work ethic was unmatched. She spent many years working at Ganong Chocolates as a hand dipper. She later lived on Campobello Island for a number of years before returning to her hometown of St. Stephen.
She was a devoted mother to her son Mark, who was undoubtedly the centre of her world. Her family was small and tightly knit. Her nieces affectionately called her “Nanny Frost,” as she truly filled the role of grandmother more than aunt. Brenda was a quiet soul who often kept to herself. Her sense of order and cleanliness was remarkable—she always stayed organized and tidy. Family and friends knew they could count on her whenever they needed help.
In her final years, Brenda found joy in the simple things: going for lunch and taking long drives with her sister Bonnie. The two grew especially close during that time. A devoted member of the Kingdom Hall, she also treasured the fellowship and support she found within her congregation.
She will be greatly missed by everyone who knew her, including her friends and neighbours in the Chipman apartment community. She can now rest peacefully until her hope of the resurrection is realized. We will keep her in our hearts.
The family wishes to thank the staff of Kindred Care and the Charlotte County Hospital for their care and compassion.
Cremation has taken place. A private family service will be held at a later date.
Arrangements have been entrusted to the care of Humphreys Funeral Home.
