Barbara Hale Clowes

1942 – 2026

“In the blink of an eye”

Barbara (Barb) was born on March 8th, 1942, to parents Willard and Erdine (Marsten) Bull. She lived her early life in Northampton and Grafton, N.B. She married her husband, Richard Lloyd Clowes and father of her 2 children Rodney and Andrea. They lived in Fredericton, during which time Richard passed away at the very young age of 26.

Barb was a hairdresser by profession. She and her children moved to Bayside where she worked from home for 30 yrs. She loved dabbling in crafts which included her one and only rosebud embroidered quilt which was made over 22 years, homemade soap, knitting and crocheting but her love was basket weaving which she mostly self taught. She shared her crafts room with her beautiful golden retrievers Rosabella, Tiffinay and Farrah over the years. She got great solace in her weaving. For many years she could be seen Thursday mornings at the farmer’s market in Saint Andrews. The tailgate of her truck was a great gathering spot for her friends. In her early years she traveled with her baskets to many craft fairs. Later years her baskets were displayed in her home. She began in her 80’s teaching herself to play the Piano. Barbara enjoyed her home and could be seen mowing her lawn and working in her flower beds. She was community minded being involved with the Bayside Community Hall for over 30 yrs.

She is survived by her life partner Gordon Barteau, her children Rodney (Barb Boone), Andrea VanTassel, grandchildren, Lindsay Leckie (Alex), Jenna Brown, Brandan VanTassel (Kayla MacKeigan), Thomas VanTassel (Ella Cooke), great-grandchildren Leah Brown, Wyatt Brown, Nora Leckie her last sibling Alice Lincoln, dear friends Marguerite Garnett, Bonnie Rogers her nieces, nephews and cousins.

In addition to her parents and husband she was predeceased by her brothers Charles, Warren, Ralph, son-in-law Brian VanTassel and dear friend Anna Doughherty.
