Alice, Mom, or Nan, as most people knew her, was the heart of our family and the center of many cherished memories. Her house was always the gathering place; the coffee pot was always full, the door was always open, and she was waiting to give you the biggest hug the moment you walked through the door. Mom/Nan was happiest with a house full of family and friends. Anyone lucky enough to know her knew she was entirely selfless, always giving her time, care and love and never expected anything in return. She had a listening ear and could sit and talk with you for hours. Mom/Nan made everyone feel loved and special, always telling people she loved them and showing them in little ways, a smile, a hug, a thoughtful word or just being there when you needed her.
Mom/Nan had a gift of making people feel welcomed and valued, and her warmth stayed with you long after you left her home. She was the kind of person who would give you the shirt off her back without giving it a second thought.
Mom/Nan had endless kindness, patients, and generosity which she shared freely with everyone she knew. She lived her life thinking of others first and found her greatest joy in caring for those around her.
Our Mom/Nan will be deeply missed. She will live on through her family; in the love she shared and the countless happy memories she created.
Rest in paradise, Mom/Nan. We love you always.
A special thank you to the staff of Eastern Charlotte Extra Mural and Dr. Vance Anderson for always showing kindness and compassion. Your support was greatly appreciated and never went unnoticed.
Also, a thank you to all those special friends that would just stop into the house just to say hi and check in. Alice always looked forward to seeing all those she loved.
