Bathurst man dies in motorcycle crash involving a moose

A 36‑year‑old man from Bathurst has died after his motorcycle collided with a moose in Bartibog, near Miramichi.

The crash happened around 2:20 a.m. Tuesday on Route 8.

Officers from the Tracadie, Neguac and Chaleur detachments responded to the call.

Police said the motorcycle struck a moose, and the driver died at the scene from his injuries.

RCMP added that a passenger was also on the motorcycle and was taken to the hospital with what are believed to be minor injuries.

Members of the Miramichi Fire Department and Ambulance New Brunswick also attended the scene.

A member of the New Brunswick Coroner’s Office is assisting with the investigation.

An autopsy will be conducted to determine the man’s exact cause of death.
