A well-known and loved individual in our community, Mabel, along with her husband Wesley, were the owners and operators of McKay’s Restaurant in Pennfield. Prior to her retirement, Mabel also worked as a cook and manager at Friend’s Restaurant in St. George for a number of years. As her children were growing up, Mabel took pride in their family home being the neighbourhood drop in for all the local children. She and Wesley gladly took in, fed and clothed all the local kids and they made sure no one ever went without. As her family grew, she looked forward to the large gatherings and being surrounded by love. Known for her cooking and desserts, her family always looked forward to Mabel’s contribution to any gathering. Mabel was a member of the Order of the Eastern Star, Granite Chapter # 15 in St. George and was a prior member of the St. George Curling Club. Mabel was known as a hard-working mom and grandmother, with the kindest heart. Her love and devotion to her family will be sadly missed but forever remembered with love and gratitude.
