Carson Clifford Cooke

1923-2026

It is with profound sadness, the family announces the passing of Carson Clifford Cooke, husband of the late Alberta Pauline (Parks) Cooke, which occurred on February 11, 2026 at his home in L’Etang, NB.

Born on February 28, 1923, he was the son of the late Charles Eagan of St. Stephen NB and the late Nellie Jessie (Cooke) Wilcox of Oshawa, ON.

He was a lifelong member of St. Mark’s Anglican Church in St. George and a member of the Orange Lodge Association for many years. He enjoyed the social activities of both church and the lodge.

He loved it most when he had his sons, grandchildren and great grandchildren around him listening to the many fishing and hunting stories he remembered from days gone by, especially the ones in his younger years.

Carson was a hardworking man providing for his family. He loved teaching his sons how to care for farm animals, how to hunt and fish and especially loved being outside in the fresh air and out on the salt water. He started out at a very young age fishing throughout the Bay of Fundy, building weirs, seining for sardines, dragging for scallops and lobster fishing to name a few. He was an avid outdoorsman and skilled marksman, who loved hunting and fishing. He was known as a master woodworker who especially loved building boats. He also worked as a truck driver at the Pennfield Airport where British Pilots were trained during the early stages of World War II.

At the age of sixty-nine, he decided to retire from the St. George Pulp Mill after many years of services in different positions and finally as a Generator Operator.

Carson was the father of Terrance (Elaine) Cooke of Miramichi, Conrad (Sheila) Cooke of St. George, Roger (Edna) Cooke of Halifax and Timothy Cooke of St. George; Grandchildren, Sharon Cooke of Quispamsis, Stephen (Lissa) Cooke of Miramichi, Andrew (Erin Toole) Cooke of Grand Bay, Adam (Jennifer) Cooke of Chase BC, Bradley (Jodie Garnett) Cooke of St. Stephen, Heather (Matt Grossnickle) Cooke of Cobble Hill BC, David (Nikita) Cooke of Cordova Bay, BC and Ian (Rachel Pennings) Cooke of Nepean ON. Great Grandchildren, Christopher, Alex, Aiden, Owen, Griffin, Max, Cooper and Louis, his half sister, Isabel Mausser of Etobicoke ON.

He was predeceased by his wife Alberta, infant son Dawson, his parents, half brothers Faye, Vance and Clark Wilcox, grandparents Goldwin and Anne Cooke, and several aunts, uncles and their spouse’s. 

Arrangements in the care of the St. George Funeral Home (506-755-3533) 26 Portage Street, St. George NB. A memorial service will be held on Wednesday, May 6th, 2026 at 11:00 am at the St. George Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Kevin Borthwick officiating, followed by a private, family only, interment at the St. George Rural Cemetery. The family will meet with friends and relatives at the St. George Presbyterian Kirk Hall immediately following the interment. Visiting at the funeral home will be held on Tuesday, May 5th, 2026 from 4:00 pm until 7:00 pm. For those who wish, remembrances may be made to St. Mark’s Anglican Church or a charity of the donor’s choice.
