About 400 workers at a pulp mill in Baileyville, Maine, are being tested due to possible exposure to COVID-19 cases.
In a Facebook post, the Calais Regional Hospital says staff will be on-site at Woodland Pulp on Thursday collecting swabs.
“CRH staff is proud to serve our community in this manner, providing this needed community service quickly and efficiently so those potentially affected will have answers as soon as possible,” said the post.
The hospital went on to say it urges everyone in the area to “remain calm and not panic.”
Health officials in Maine had reported nearly 5,400 confirmed and probable cases of COVID-19 as of Tuesday, including 141 deaths.
Washington County has 16 confirmed cases of the virus to date, the second-lowest in the state.
