Woodstock Standoff Ends With Arrest

A 34-year-old man has been arrested after a weekend standoff in the town of Woodstock.

The Woodstock Police Force received a call about a man armed with a knife around 1:40 a.m. Saturday.

“Responding members of the Woodstock Police Force attempted to de-escalate the situation and have the male exit the apartment peacefully,” police said in a news release on Monday.

“As the situation unfolded, the male made it clear to police that he would not exit the location.”

The man was also arrestable for additional ongoing local police investigations, according to police.

Nearby apartments were evacuated as a precaution and the Fredericton Police Force’s Emergency Response Team was called in.

Police say the man was taken into custody without further incident at around 7 a.m. Saturday.

There is no word at this time on what charges the individual may be facing.
