Weekend brought possible funnel clouds and thunderstorms

Lots of wacky weather over the weekend.

Central and southern parts of the province saw severe thunderstorms on Sunday with torrential downpours, and severe thunderstorm watches and warnings on and off throughout the day.

On Saturday, there were reports of what appeared to be a small tornado in Petitcodiac.

Environment Canada couldn’t confirm but said they will be doing further investigation on Monday.

The Northern Tornado Project at the University of Western Ontario in London stated in a social media post that a preliminary EF0 rating has been assigned while further investigation is being done.

A video circulating on social media showed what appeared to be a small twister moving through a wooded area.

There are also reports on social media of what appeared to be funnels forming in PEI, but no confirmation from Environment Canada or the NTP yet.
