Weapons Call Prompts Large Police Response

There was a large police presence in west Saint John on Saturday afternoon as officers responded to a weapons call.

Police officers swarmed a home on St. James Street West near Ludlow Street shortly after 1 p.m.

Spokesperson Jim Hennessy said they received reports that a man had forced his way into a home with a weapon.

Hennessy said officers quickly contained the area, but no arrests had been made as of 3:30 p.m. Saturday.

Witnesses said the force’s armoured vehicle was on the scene and several officers were carrying rifles.

No injuries were reported and the Major Crime Unit is now investigating, said Hennessy.
