Water Cooler Talk (July 6 – July 12)

Here’s 5 interesting things you can talk about this week with your family, friends and co-workers!

1: Did you know that the previous St. Stephen public pool opened on June 28, 1965? The Kiwanis Pool officially opened on School Street next to the middle school. It became a cornerstone for generations of children who took morning swimming lessons and spent their summer evenings there.

2: This Monday, Earth reaches its farthest distance from the Sun for the year, sitting exactly 152,087,851 km away.

3: Because of their dense root networks, daylilies are excellent for stabilizing steep slopes, controlling soil erosion, and choking out weeds.

4: Tadpoles do not simply lose their long tails as they transform into froglets; their bodies actually absorb and “eat” the tail for nutrients.

5: Re-runs of Seinfeld remained one of the most popular shows on TV throughout the summer of 1996, averaging around 20 million viewers per episode.
