Water Cooler Talk (January 5 – 11)

Here’s 5 interesting things you can talk about this week with your family, friends and co-workers!

1: If you’re a “rock hound” (aka someone who enjoys collecting and identifying rocks, minerals and gemstones), it may interest you to know that the dark-green crystal Babingtonite can be found in the rock along Route 1 near the Digdeguash River Basin.

2: Cats can jump up to 5 times the height of their bodies. That means if humans possessed the same ability, most people would be able to jump around 30 feet into the air!

3: Cucumbers are 95% water. They’re also extremely high in Vitamin K, Vitamin A, potassium, and magnesium.

4: “12 Monkeys”, starring Bruce Willis and Brad Pitt, was released in January 1996. Pitt won Best Supporting Actor for his role in the film, at the 1996 Golden Globe Awards.

5: Human taste buds can process around 10,000 different flavors.
