Water Cooler Talk (February 2 – February 8)

Here’s 5 interesting things you can talk about this week with your family, friends and co-workers!

1: In the early 1800’s, Pennfield had a large population of passenger pigeons. The species is now completely extinct, with the last known living passenger pigeon having died in 1914.

2: The first Groundhog day was held February 2nd, 1887 in Punxsutawney, Pennsylvania. The groundhog saw his shadow.

3: During the “Black Death” in Europe, people in England began drinking bacon grease, believing it was a cure.

4: Although generally a solitary hunter, a pack of Red Foxes is called a Skulk.

5: Everyone hears their own voice at a slightly lower pitch than everyone else hears it. This is why people are always surprised how different their voice sounds on recordings.
