RCMP say two people have died after a vehicle left the road in Pont-Landry.

Emergency crews were called to the scene on Route 160 around 3:20 a.m. Saturday.

“The crash is believed to have occurred when the driver lost control of the vehicle, and rolled over several times,” RCMP said in a news release.

Police said the driver and the passenger were thrown from the vehicle during the crash.

A 21-year-old woman from Tracadie died at the scene. A 27-year-old man, also from Tracadie, later died in the hospital.

The cause of the crash is still under investigation.
