On May 29, staff at Horizon’s Charlotte County Hospital came together to mark Teal Day, capping off Sexual Violence Awareness Month.
Initiated in 2023 by St. Stephen’s sexual violence resource centre, The Willow Centre, Teal Day has officially expanded across the province thanks to a declaration by the Minister of Women and Gender Equity, Lyne Chantal Boudreau, earlier this year.
In 2025, there were 193 reported sexual offences across New Brunswick, including reports of sexual assault, sexual interference, and sextortion. So far in 2026, 186 cases have already been documented.
Teal Day symbolizes vital support for survivors of sexual violence. In moments when silence can feel safer than speaking out, this day acts as a lifeline, ensuring survivors know that safe resources and people are always available.
Every survivor deserves to be seen, heard, and supported. Share to help break the silence and make sure everyone in our community knows they are never alone.
