A St. Stephen man was sentenced to 9½ years in prison this week after the conclusion of a pair of major drug trafficking investigations.
Michael Ryan Foster, 43, was in Saint John provincial court July 9 for sentencing.
Foster’s punishment follows two investigations started in December 2024 and February 2026.
RCMP seized approximately $37,000 worth of fentanyl and $6,900 worth of methamphetamine during these investigations.
“This sentence demonstrates the significant impact that dedicated police work can have in protecting our communities from the harms associated with illicit drugs,” said Sgt. Pierre Ladouceur of the St. Stephen RCMP.
In addition to his prison sentence, Foster will be required to submit a DNA sample to law enforcement and is now subject to a lifetime firearms ban.
The court also imposed a forfeiture order for all evidence and assets seized during the investigations.
Ladouceur emphasized the dangers of fentanyl and how important ongoing enforcements are to protecting the community.
“Fentanyl remains one of the most potent and dangerous illicit drugs impacting our communities today,” he said in a statement.
“Even small quantities can have devastating and potentially fatal consequences.”
