St. Stephen Celebrates with Two Signature Summer Festivals

It’s one of the busiest and most exciting weeks of the summer in St. Stephen as two beloved festivals come together to celebrate everything that makes this border community special.

Chocolate Fest continues to sweeten Canada’s Chocolate Town with four days of family fun, delicious treats, live entertainment, friendly competitions, community events, and activities for all ages. Since its beginnings in the mid-1980s, Chocolate Fest has become one of New Brunswick’s most recognized summer festivals, attracting visitors from across the region to celebrate St. Stephen’s rich chocolate-making heritage.

At the same time, the 53rd International Homecoming Festival is bringing together the neighbouring communities of St. Stephen, New Brunswick, and Calais, Maine. First established in 1974, the festival celebrates the unique friendship shared across the St. Croix River with concerts, family activities, community events, the popular International Parade, and a spectacular fireworks display that reflects the close bond between the two border towns. This year’s festival runs August 5th through 9th with the theme “Through the Years.”

Together, these two festivals showcase the welcoming spirit of St. Stephen, where community pride, history, and tradition come together to create an unforgettable summer experience. Whether you’re enjoying chocolate-themed fun, taking in live entertainment, watching the parade, or simply exploring the town, there’s something for everyone.

If you’re looking for a great summer day trip or weekend getaway, now is the perfect time to discover why St. Stephen continues to be one of New Brunswick’s favourite festival destinations.
