Sobeys Axes 24-Hour Shopping At Two N.B. Stores

Changes are coming at the 24-hour Sobeys locations in Saint John and Fredericton.

Starting Jan. 5, the new hours of operation will be from 6 a.m. to midnight seven days a week.

The change applies to the locations in Saint John West and on Prospect Street in Fredericton.

Florence Chapman, a spokesperson for the grocery chain, said they regularly review the hours of operations at all of their stores.

“[We] consider a number of factors such as sales, ease of shopping for customers, safety, where we can optimize the right coverage for customers in our communities by adjusting store hours,” Chapman wrote in an email.

“In some sites we may keep the hours or change the hours from 24 to a more convenient 6 a.m. to midnight, and others may go 7 a.m. to 11 p.m.”

The company said there are no changes planned for the two 24-hour locations in Greater Moncton.
