Sea Dogs lose third in a row in Gatineau

It’s not the way the Saint John Sea Dogs would choose to start a three-game road trip.

The Sea Dogs fell behind early and were never really in it as they fell 7-3 to the Gatineau Olympiques Friday.

It’s Saint John’s third loss in a row.

Gatineau on two of the first three shots they put at Samuel Meloche, goals coming from Dylan Allie and Peter Legostaev.

Artem Glukhikh’s first of the night made it 3-0 before Saint John responded.

Thomas Charbonneau brought the visitors within one, but that’s as close as the Sea Dogs got.

Louis-Étienne Halley, Simon-Xavier Cyr and Michel Myloserdnyy chipped in for the Olympiques, and Glukhikh added his second of the night in the third.

Zachary Morin and Jamie Glance replied for the Sea Dogs.

Meloche, despite rough start, stayed in net the whole game for Saint John. He finished the night with 35 saves on 42 shots.

Danai Shaiikov turned aside 23 of 26 shots in the win.

Next up for the Sea Dogs, a 5 p.m. start against the Blainville-Boisbriand Armada on Saturday.
