School District Plans For End-Of-Term, Grad Celebrations

The Anglophone South School District provided some insight into its end-of-year planning on Wednesday.

Superintendent Zo Watson sent a letter to families of students with more information on year-end dates and deadlines.

Schools within the district will provide graduates with a time families can come to pick up their diploma, a yearbook, any school awards, and to take a physically-distanced photographs with the school principal.

Some schools are working on a video to provide to students, which will include speeches, graduate photos, and award-winners.

The province’s Continuity Of Learning home-learning plan will end on June 12, meaning course-work and activities will be due by that date.

Telephone guidance will end on June 1, when teachers transition back into schools, as previously reported.

K-to-8 students will receive report cards based on their work before schools closed in mid-March.

Students in grades 11 and 12 will be marked as “enrolled” or “credit”, according to Watson’s letter, and will not be given a numerical mark. Report cards for grades nine and 10 students are still being discussed.

The principals of schools with grades five and eight will communicate plans for year-end celebrations directly to families.
