UPDATE: 911 service fully restored in New Brunswick

New Brunswick’s Emergency Measures Organization says 911 service has been fully restored following reported disruptions.

In a social media update, NB EMO said New Brunswickers should no longer experience disruptions when trying to call 911.

Earlier Thursday, the organization warned that reports indicated intermittent 911 outages were occurring across Canada, including New Brunswick, and that some callers could experience difficulty reaching emergency services.

Residents were advised to use a landline, Wi-Fi calling or another carrier if they were unable to connect to 911. NB EMO also provided alternate contact numbers for several regions across the province.

The Saint John Police Force issued a similar warning Thursday morning, saying some cell phone users might be unable to connect to 911.

In an update posted at 8:45 a.m., the force said the earlier reported issue with the 911 network had been resolved.

Bell Canada reported an outage at about 3:13 a.m. ET and said backup systems were brought online to route emergency calls while the issue was investigated.

Shortly after 9 a.m., the company said service had been fully restored and that it was continuing to investigate the cause.
