The Moncton Wildcats have filed their intent to host the 2028 Memorial Cup.
Team president R.J. Irving said the bid shows the strength of the organization, the city and the province.
“Moncton has a proven track record of delivering first-class national events,” Irving said in a release.
General manager and director of hockey operations Taylor MacDougall said the team’s recent performance supports the bid.
“We have been one of the winningest teams in the CHL over the past two seasons,” MacDougall said, adding that the organization believes it can build a roster capable of competing for a Memorial Cup title in 2028.
The team says its proposal highlights Moncton’s experience hosting major events, including the 2023 World Junior Hockey Championships, and places a strong focus on community engagement.
The goal is to deliver a tournament that resonates with players, fans, partners and the broader community, according to the release.
Irving said the Memorial Cup represents the highest level of major junior hockey in Canada and believes Moncton offers passionate fans, strong facilities and proven event delivery.
The CHL has not announced when it will select the host city for the 2028 tournament.
