Moncton man charged in Campbellton homicide

A Moncton man has been charged with murder in a northern New Brunswick homicide.

Mounties say a 49-year-old man was assaulted at a Campbellton medical facility on Nov. 16.

He was rushed to hospital with what were believed to be serious, life-threatening injuries.

Nearly two weeks after the alleged aggravated assault, police arrested a then 25-year-old man.

The victim, later identified as Ronald “Ron” Savoy of Eel River Crossing, died from his injuries on Dec. 23.

RCMP say a 26-year-old Moncton man appeared in court on Tuesday and was charged with second-degree murder.

He was remanded into custody and is scheduled to return to court on April 24.
