Maugerville Fire Displaces Six People

Six people are temporarily homeless after a fire damaged a home near Fredericton.

Emergency crews were called to Route 105 in Maugerville on Tuesday evening.

The Canadian Red Cross said the fire was quickly contained but caused smoke and water damage throughout the home.

Volunteers from the organization are helping a couple, two of their children, plus a niece and her infant with emergency lodging, meals and other basics.

“The residents expect they’ll be able to return home after cleanup and repairs,” said the Red Cross in a statement.

No one was hurt and there is no word on how the fire started.
