Man with baseball bat demands money from woman in St. Stephen

Mounties are looking to identify a person of interest after an attempted robbery in St. Stephen.

Officers were called to the reported attempted robbery on King Street around 8:45 p.m. Wednesday

Investigators say a woman walking her dog was approached by a man with an aluminium baseball bat who demanded money.

The man, believed to be in his early to mid-20s, fled the scene and the woman was not physically hurt, police said in a news release Friday.

“Police are now releasing surveillance footage photos of the man in hopes that, despite the quality, someone may recognize him,” said the release.

The man is described as approximately 5’7″ tall with a small build and short orange hair. He was wearing a long-sleeve red shirt, jeans and work boots.

Anyone who has information is asked to contact the St. Stephen RCMP at 506-466-7030 or Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-8477.
