Loaded handgun seized during traffic stop: police

A 28-year-old man has been arrested after police seized a weapon during a traffic stop near St. Stephen.

Officers stopped a vehicle travelling on Route 3 near Moores Mills on the evening of Dec. 15.

Police said they seized a loaded semi-automatic handgun, and the driver was arrested.

The man, who is from Scotch Ridge, was later released from custody and will appear in court in April.

This was the second time this month that police seized a loaded handgun during a traffic stop in the St. Stephen area.
