Icelandair to end direct flights to Maritimes

Atlantic Canada’s direct flights to Iceland is suspending its Halifax service indefinitely.

A spokesperson for Halifax Stanfield International Airport, Mikela Sani Routledge, confirmed that Icelandair is suspending its service to Atlantic Canada. The airline’s last flight from Halifax is scheduled for Oct. 18.

In a statement to Acadia News, Routledge says, “Looking ahead to 2027, travellers will continue to have access to a strong European network at Halifax Stanfield with non-stop service between Halifax and 12 destinations across Europe. This includes year-round service operated by Air Canada between Halifax and London Heathrow.”

It remains unclear what the suspension means for passengers who have booked travel beyond Oct. 18. The airport has not provided details on how those bookings will be handled.
