Home Inspector Recommends Booking Before Purchasing

Before you sign on the dotted line for what will probably be the biggest purchase of your life, you should consider having a home inspection.

Owner of Cottage To Castle Home Inspection Services Jeff Leblanc says it’ll help avoid headaches in the future.

“We’re going to spend four or five hours in a house going through it with a fine-toothed comb and creating a report. Without that prior knowledge before buying, the homeowner is uncovering problems, and there are still other problems that they might now see for a year or two as well,” said Leblanc.

Leblanc says electrical problems are just one of the issues they find when doing a home inspection.

“It seems to be a common thing that we find, which usually can be a small fix, but if left unchecked it can cause big problems because it would be a safety concern,” he said.

Other homeowners have reported water issues or structural damage as well after buying a home.

He adds with the red hot real estate market, some homeowners have chosen to forego their home inspections and have regretted it.

But Leblanc says if you are a new homeowner who opted not to get an inspection before your purchase, it’s never too late to get one.
