Grocery Chains Boost Worker Pay Amid Pandemic

Workers at several national grocery chains are getting a financial bonus during the COVID-19 pandemic.

Sobeys says each worker is getting an extra $50 a week in recognition of the job they are doing during the outbreak.

Those who work 20 hours or more a week will get an additional $2 an hour bump on every hour they work over 20.

Loblaw Companies, which includes Atlantic Superstore and Shoppers Drug Mart, is temporarily increasing compensation by 15 per cent.
