November is here! And with it, comes shorter days, colder nights – and frosty mornings! And for the photographers among us, that makes for some of the best times to shoot Charlotte County!

Being blessed with an abundance of mountains and valleys, rivers and lakes, and ocean coastline, Charlotte County’s unique geography becomes a picturesque landscape each year as winter begins to creep in. Especially at sunrise.

Getting out of a warm bed a little earlier can be a challenge, but one that is worth the reward, as you take in some of the truly unique early morning sites. From fishermen departing against the backdrop of a color-splashed sky reflected on the ocean surface, to ethereal mists rising off the rivers and lakes and down off the surrounding mountains, to the wonder of wildlife starting a new day.

Head to St. Andrews to maybe catch a glimpse of the fabled “spirit deer”, an albino deer that roams the area and is often spotted by locals. Or maybe you’ll be lucky enough enough spot an owl wrapping up its night of hunting.

Or perhaps take advantage of the riverside walking trails in either St. Stephen or St. George, where you can witness the majesty of the tidal flow of the historic St. Croix river, or the tranquility of the Magaguadavic River.
