Fatal fire in Eastern Charlotte

One person is dead after a fire in the Second Falls area.

On the morning of December 27, the Eastern Charlotte Fire Rescue responded to reports of a camper trailer on fire and someone possibly trapped inside.

There were no hydrants in the area, and a water shuttle operation had to be established.

Three engines and ten firefighters were on scene. Two engines from the Bonny River/Second Falls station and one engine from the St. George station.

Firefighters managed to knock down the blaze within 15 minutes

Moments later, the individual was located inside.

The cause is still under investigation.
