Daylight Savings Time begins

Spring is just around the corner, and one of the sure signs is the return of Daylight Saving Time. This year, the clocks spring forward on Sunday, March 8th at 2 a.m. That means we move our clocks ahead one hour and trade a little bit of morning light for longer, brighter evenings.

For many people, it’s the unofficial start of the spring season. The sun sticks around a little later, giving us more daylight after work and school. It’s a great reminder that winter is slowly loosening its grip.

Of course, the time change can take a day or two to get used to. Experts often suggest heading to bed a little earlier the night before and making sure things like smoke alarm batteries are still working.

So before you head to bed Saturday night, remember to set your clocks ahead one hour. You might lose an hour of sleep, but the payoff is those longer, brighter evenings that remind us warmer days are on the way.

And that’s a sure sign that spring isn’t too far away.
