Saint John residents can now sign up to receive text notifications about parking bans, alternate-side parking schedules and other parking-related updates.
The City of Saint John said the new Parking Text Notifications service is designed to send important parking information directly to subscribers’ mobile devices.
Residents must register for the service to receive the alerts.
The city explained the program is separate from its Emergency Alert system, meaning people who already receive emergency notifications will still need to sign up if they want parking-related text messages.
The service is free, and subscribers can opt out at any time, according to the city.
Parking information will continue to be shared through the city’s website and social media channels.
The city said the text notification system is intended to provide another way for residents to receive updates as soon as they are issued.
They also stated that the messages will generally be distributed during regular business hours whenever possible.
Monthly parking permit holders will continue to receive email notices about disruptions or changes affecting their specific parking lots.
The city said the new text notification service is intended to provide broader parking-related information and does not replace existing lot-specific communications.
Residents can register for the service through the city’s text notifications and alerts platform.
