Charlotte County-isms

Does Charlotte County have a language of its own? Some might say “yes”! Here are few examples of “Charlotte County-isms” and how to properly use them…..

Pridineer: adjective – very near, but not exactly or entirely

example: “Geez Mike, you pridineer gave me a heart attack!

Whatdoyumean: interjection – used to express surprise, disbelief or confusion

example: “Whatdoyumean you’re all out of smokes?!”

Dooryard: noun – a private drive giving access from a public way to a building on adjoining grounds

example: “Whatdoyumean you didn’t see the tires for sale in my dooryard? You pridineer tripped over them!”

Givur: intransitive verb – to have, or make a beginning, to start

example: “Some people say you shouldn’t drink before noon, but I say givur!”

Weeeeeleyedonno: noun – the quality or state of being uncertain

example: “Weeeeeleyedonno, I’ll have to ask the wife about that.
