Big drop in fuel prices expected in New Brunswick

Another big dip in gas prices is on the way for New Brunswickers.

An industry source reported Wednesday that the Energy and Utilities Board would be using the interrupter clause.

And it’s a doozy, with a drop of nine cents per litre across all gasoline grades predicted.

It would drop the maximum price of regular self-serve to $1.86 per litre.

There’s good news for diesel users, too, with a 7.2-cent drop expected.

That would put the maximum price for diesel at about $2.26.

In Nova Scotia, regular self-serve ranges from $1.88 to $1.90 per litre, while diesel is selling for between $2.20 and $2.22 per litre.

On Prince Edward Island, the price for regular self-serve is $1.97 per litre, diesel costs $2.30 per litre, and home heating oil is selling for a maximum of about $1.70 per litre.

The New Brunswick Energy and Utilities Board makes its regular weekly adjustment to prices every Friday at 12:01 a.m.
