Assault Leads To Attempted Murder Charges

A St. Stephen man has been charged with attempted murder after an assault on Canada Day.

Shortly before 11 a.m. on Wednesday, officers were called to a Union Street apartment building following a report of a man being assaulted with a baseball bat.

Police found a 52-year-old man with serious head injuries.

He was taken to hospital with life-threatening injuries and another man was arrested later that day.

On Thursday, Ken Broniszewski appeared in court through tele-remand where he was charged with attempted murder.

He is scheduled to be in Saint John on Monday for a bail hearing.

Police do not consider this a random act.
